The East of England Poultry Club held the first of their indoor shows recently, at Horncastle. Entries were down, probably due to the prolonged wet weather, which caused many birds to moult, which also affects their egg-laying. However, we had a good day, with a young member not only Champion, but also Best Juvenile .
Show Champion and Best Waterfowl was a Call drake shown by Reggie Walker from near Gainsborough who was Best Juvenile with the same drake. His call duck was also a 1st prize winner.
Show Reserve was a large white Wyandotte shown by Terry Marshall from near Grimsby.
Best bantam was a lavender Araucana shown by Brian Coulson, from Suffolk.
Best True bantam was a Serama shown by Mike Johnson, also from Suffolk.
Best Hard Feather was an Oxford Game bantam from John Brian from Grimsby.
Best Rare Breed was a female Yokohama shown by Claire Flower from Leeds.
Juvenile Reserve was a chamois Poland shown by Ellie-Mae Swinson from Horncastle.
19 birds were benched for the Lincolnshire Buff Poultry Society Club Show.
Best Lincolnshire Buff was a pullet shown by Rosemary Smith from Skegness.
The Reserve Buff was Rosemary Smith’s cockerel.
